The 12th annual Sunday Supper in Union Market is set to take place June 2. Ahead of one of NE Washington’s biggest events, the women-owned businesses of Union Market District prepare to highlight and uplift one another. Daniella Senior, the owner of award-winning restaurant Colada Shop, and Andra “AJ” Johnson, a managing partner behind the acclaimed bar Serenata, joined Monica Alford in Legacy Sessions Studio to share insights into what it’s like to be women of color in the D.C. hospitality scene and the hospitality industry at large.
“Sunday Supper, and what it represents in support of women is just really essential,” Senior said. “I love how Jody and Eden, along with the James Beard Foundation, have put this incredible event together that’s super well curated, brings together like the best in the hospitality industry, and just the people that are amazing.”
Listen to these award-winning hospitality specialists converse about the complexities of being a person of color in the hospitality industry, their own experiences and stories, and more here.
